Is anyone else having lots of trouble with this website this week?

What's with this website the last few days? It is horrendously slow responding to anything. Fodor's, what's going on? Please get back to your user friendly self.

I AGREE! It's really been a pain. When I click on a strand just to read it, nothing is there! Post that I did reply to are no longer posted... they disappeared.

So to answer your question, yup - I've been having problems too.....

JackOneill Mar 5th, 2003 07:07 AM

Me too. Having problems, that is. With this site, that is.

GoTravel Mar 5th, 2003 07:09 AM

It's horrible. It will say the site is done loading and it will show a blank screen. It makes me log in every couple of minutes. What is going on?

Connie Mar 5th, 2003 07:38 AM

I'm not having any trouble at all and I get on and off several times a day. I haven't had any of the troubles I've heard about since registration.

I'm on a Mac. Maybe for once it's more compatible!

blpar Mar 5th, 2003 07:47 AM

Have had trouble here too. Glad to hear it's not just my computer. Quite often I've gotten a cannot find server message. Very slow this week.

SaraLou Mar 5th, 2003 07:50 AM

Yesterday all I could get when I came to the main page was a advertisement for Hyatt running right down the middle of the screen, nothing esle. Clicking anywhere on the screen took me to the Hyatt website.

FreddieD Mar 5th, 2003 08:04 AM

Slow here too. Today is the first day I signed on without any trouble.

Austin Mar 5th, 2003 08:08 AM
It seems to be on and off. Yesterday, I didn't post when I wanted to because the loads were slooooow. Just now I clicked and the post space came right up.

As for the Hyatt ad, you'll notice a scroll bar when it pops up. Just scroll down and you'll see the Fodors home page.

Me, too--it's really slow to load anything and often quits midstream. I'm glad it's not just me--Fodor's, are you listening?

rnc Mar 5th, 2003 08:38 AM

I hope the same people complaining about how slow it is were'nt the same ones begging for registration. I'd take the troll crap over the sluggish site any day.

Scarlett Mar 5th, 2003 08:58 AM

A LOT of trouble and very annoying.
THere are days when one has a lot to say and needs to be able to log on~LOL!
Besides there are things I need to research and it takes forever to be able to open any of the threads...whine whine.

Betsy Mar 5th, 2003 03:48 PM

Surprised to see this post as the site has been really perky the last two or three days. I'm on a Mac, too.

Patrick Mar 5th, 2003 06:50 PM

Slow isn't the word for it. I typed out a post on the Asia board and it was very slow posting, so I left for the evening. I came home four hours later and my post was still sitting there on the screen. I clicked post my reply again and it finally posted. So that's a new record for me -- four hours to post!!!

Caribgirl Mar 6th, 2003 03:43 AM

Yes, I've been having problems. The site has been very sloooowwww or "cannot be found". I'd almost given up but it's good so far today. And I agree with the poster above, if it's because of registration, then we'll take the trolls!
RuthMc Mar 6th, 2003 09:18 AM

Very slow to get on the forums or not able to get on in a reasonable time for the past week or so. Have the problem using both a dial-up and T-1 connection.

GoTravel Mar 6th, 2003 09:21 AM

Danny? Are you listening?

Edye Mar 6th, 2003 09:24 AM

Tons of trouble this week, slow access using a DSL connection and couldn't get on at all using phone modem connection. Please fix it Fodors! I think your ads and their graphics are slowing it down too much.

mdv Mar 6th, 2003 09:28 AM

Very slow..all week.

Caragh Mar 6th, 2003 09:32 AM

Hello there --

I just wanted to let you all know that Fodors.com is aware of the problems our users are experiencing on the site this week. We are working to fix the problem as soon as possible.

The reason for the slowness on the site is related to, believe it or not, Dr. Seuss's birthday (March 2). The spike in traffic on the Random House servers is affecting our site.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

Sincerely,
Caragh Rockwood
senior editor
Fodors.com
