Is American worth $250 more than Continental
I have a trip booked from Boston to Kauai.
I'm flying continental airlines in April.
Now I can get a similar fligt for about the same money, but they're going to charge me $200 to switch. I'd like to know if it's worth it to get the extra leg room etc.
Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks

I just flew AA LAX to NY RT and the extra legroom was really nice. Might be worth it since you ahve such a long flight.

no always fly continental by choice to Hawaii what is especially nice are the the individual tv screens on the larger carriers. But jay you know SFO and LAX have direct flights into LIH. This can be nice also. switching is sill now unless you were on a low budget carrier.

Check the planes first, Jay.
Not all AA's planes have been changed yet. Also check your seating.
Continental has been awarded the 'top long haul' carrier award several times during the past few years.
If you have a bad seat on Continental and you could get more space for $200 on AA, it might be worth it.
You can find the details on the respective carriers' websites or by calling them.

Jack,
I'm afraid your information about American is outdated. 100% of American's domestic fleet has been configured with MRTC (More Room Throughout Coach).
|
Actually that's not correct, xxx.
First off, AA has absorbed TWA, and relabeled the TWA flights as AA flights though many of the planes haven't been reconfigured or even repainted.
Second, AA's website still says the economy seat pitch on 767's, for instance, is 31 inches in some cases.
Just like before.
|
CO flies 777's with just about the best coach configuration around, and their service consistently beats out AA, both in on-time performance and staff attitude . Save the $200 for helicopter ride in Hawaii!

Thanks everybody for all of your input.....I'm somewhat a novice as far as airline travel goes. Gordie's advice sounds good to me because the helicopter ride is definately on my itinerary. I think I'll stick with Continental & hope for the best.
