Is $765. a good fair from east coast to Maui?
I am planning on going to Maui in January and have to fly on American. I want to fly out of Hartford, Ct. Should I grab a fare of $765. or wait it out another few weeks?

That is one looonnng flight. If this is over the holidays, I wouldn't wait. Have you checked fares out of the NYC area?

I waited for that fair last winter from February through to May and never saw it drop below 1000.

Changes every year the year before I flew in January (Oahu one night over in SF) for $500. I would not wait after my most recent experience.

If you want to bid you could probably get less but I would not chance it.

PS I was traveling in August last year when I was waiting for the $750 fair

Thanks for the imput! Fares may be cheaper out of New York, but that adds another 2 hrs. to the trip. Last year I got a flight for around $650. I booked it in October, but rates were down because of 9/11.

I have relatives who left today for Hawaii out of Philly. They paid with taxes etc. close to $700.00 pp. Total trip time was 14 hours including layovers. UGHH!! So---don't know if you should wait or not. Depends on the timing of your trip.

I booked a fair on Hawaiian for Feb. 2003 at 640.00, Seattle to Kauai. Your fair sounds pretty good coming all the way from the East coast. I'd go for it.

Try giving Pleasant Holidays a call. At the time, when I was just starting to look into a trip to Maui for next May (about 3 months ago), all flights I found on the internet were in the $900 range. I called them and they gave me a price of $620.

May work or it may not, but it's worth a call.
