I am spending 3 nights at the marriott hotel in Irvine in june. Is there anything special to do or see in the area.

There's the Irvine Spectrum that might be an enjoyable place to wander around one evening. It's basically a big entertainment center - movies, restaurants, shops, etc. <BR> <BR>While Irvine itself isn't all that exciting, it's located in close proximity to the beaches. You might want to check out Newport Beach and Balboa Island. Laguna Beach is also very nice and you can just head down Sand Canyon from Irvine.

In Irvine, you're not far from the beach cities of Newport Beach and Laguna Beach. The mission at San Juan Capistrano is pretty close also. Also, you're close to South Coast Plaza, a terrific mall. Disneyland is not very far away. There may be concerts or shows which I don't know about, but which your hotel should be able to help with.

If you like art galleries and food, head down to Laguna Beach for the day. Get there early to find a parking spot and try Javiers for lunch or dinner - excellent upscale mexican food!

Notice that most people are telling you to go to a mall or get out of Irvine. That should tell you a lot about the place. Laguna is your best best..
