Iron Horse or Zephyr Mountain
 

Has anyone stayed at the Iron Horse Resort or the new Zephyr mountain Lodge in Winter Park? Any comments on either as a good place to stay? I welcome any suggestions as to nice, convenient accomodations.

I, too, am planning a ski trip & have been considering Winter Park. I would be interested in comments on these 2 resorts.

These 2 were recommended to me. Has anyone stayed at either of these??

I haven't stayed at either (I'm too cheap). I think you'll find a thread from last season with the same question if you search. <BR> <BR>Iron Horse is near the base of WP, but not easy ski in/ski out--you'll still use their shuttle bus. That means you're close to the slopes, but away from town. Good for back and forth to your room during the day (we never do that) but drive or ride bus to town for restaurants and other services. <BR> <BR>Zephyr is the new development at the base of the mountain, isn't it? If so, they are truely ski in/ski out with the lifts not far from the building. You could walk to the lifts. This, again, places you away from town for restaurants and services so you would need to drive or ride the bus to town.

We stayed at Iron Horse last March and liked it. We had a one bedroom condo in the building that is attached to the walkway to the slpoes. We foudn it easy--just go across the walkway and ski down a path to the chair lifts. The return home at the days' end was easy too. <BR> <BR>We did drive into town for dinner each night. <BR> <BR>Our condo was nice--not ultra modern but very clean and had all we needed.
