Irish Pub

Looking for an irish pub/restaurant for a friday nite where some young ladies visiting the city can have some food and beer around the 42nd to 34st area would be nice. thanx.

Very nice and upscale... more of a nice restaurant with barc area than a pub is Tir Na Nog on 8th Avenue between 33rd and 34th in Two Penn Plaza. There's at least one or two more traditional irish pubs pn 9th Avenue between 34th and 42nd but I can't recall the names - perhaps others can help. If it's a Saturday night you might consider Connoly's on W. 45th between 6th and Broadway. It's probably fun on any night but Black 47 plays there most Saturday nights on a very regular basis. Lively scene and draws a good crowd.

Hello, The above bar is an excellent choice. Great Irish food; wait staff very warm and nice! Annie Moore's is another good choice (right outside Grand Central). Have a nice time.

You'll have a great time at Paddy Reilly's Music Bar on 29th Street and 2nd Avenue with the live music, pints.

If you are on the East Side, you might think about "The Ginger Man" at 11 E. 36th St. It has a very lively afterwork crowd.

If you are young, not merely young at heart (and looks I'm sure) it tends to cater to a younger than 30 crowd.

Another vote for Annie Moore's on 43rd Street and Vanderbilt, good food and very reasonably priced.

If you're looking for something a bit more upscale, try Druids on 10th Avenue, between 50th & 51st. It's a fun place, very Irish and has excellent food (their food marks are always high in Zagats), not just the usual pub fare. You can expect a nice crowd, excellent Guinness on tap (properly poured) and Michael (the owner) is a friendly, likeable guy. They have a garden out back in the summer, too. On the downside, it's a bit off the beaten track, but worth a trip.

For any NYE'ers out there, they usually have something good going on December 31.
