Iregeo's Brief Maui Trip Report
 

Aloha! Just back from a wonderful, relaxing week on Maui. My husband's 5th, my 4th and my son's 3rd, we didn't do as much running around as we have before, so it was extra relaxing. Here's the scoop!

ACCOMODATIONS
We were guests of an owner at the Polo Beach Club, an upscale condominium complex between Wialea and Makena. Two bedrooms, 2 baths, full kitchen, LOTS of room and AMAZING VIEWS. I was content just sitting on the lanai, day or night, drinking in those views. Swaying palm trees, turquoise water...you get the picture!

The complex has a pool, but we spent most of our time on the small beach -- Polo Beach. The water is crystal clear, perfect temp, and very calm in the morning hours. At about 1:00, the wind kicks up, and it becomes more rough, but still great for body surfing and boogie boarding.

ACTIVITIES
In addition to lots of loafing, swimming, boogie boarding, body surfing and playing in the water on "our" beach, we enjoyed the ocean front pathways between our condo and the Renessaince Wialea, as well as the one between the Kanapaali Hyatt and Sheraton. We (I) did a little bit of shopping at the shops at Wialea and in Lahaina, FABULOUS snorkeling at Honolua Bay, waverunners in Kaanapali and hiking down to the Nakalele blowhole. Not to be underestimated is the stargazing and sunsets on this island. Both are breathtaking. Not that much activity, but it worked for us!

RESTAURANTS
We had some GREAT dining experiences,which included Mama's (our favorite), Sarrento's on the Beach, Sensai, Pacific O's, Mulligan's and Nick's Fishmarket. Fresh fish with amazing preparations at all but Sarrento's, which was out of the fish I had chosen.

Mulligan's is an Irish Pub, notable for its live entertainment, which we enjoyed immensley. The entertainment varies nightly and we saw their "Wialea Nights," two faboulous (and famous) Hawaiian guitarists. Thanks HereTodayGone2Maui for the great tip!

While not "fine dining," I have to mention two awesome breakfasts we had at the Gazebo in Napili and the Kehei Cafe in...Kehei!

Glad you enjoyed Mulligan's. I'll have to be sure that Eric never reads this forum. They'll be no tolerating him if he finds out he is both fabulous and famous. lol

Have I exaggerated their notoriety? Their bios are impressive and we really enjoyed their music!

Oh, no, Eric is definitely notorious in some circles around here--lol

Barry Flanagan's other job is half of Hapa. Eric is very well-known locally, mostly for how great he looks in a bustier and fishnets (he played Frank N. Furter in a local Rocky Horror production), but even more so for being Amy Gilliom's brother. I tease, but he really is very talented and, yes, very well known on Maui.
