INTERNET CAFES in KEY WEST and FT LAUDERDALE
I was wondering if any of you knew if there are internet cafes in these 2 cities
For key west on the main drag of Duval St. On the SOuth side somewhere near Irish Kevins and Sloppy Joe's.
Lauderdale - beats me |
DO you by any chance recall the name of the Internet place? How much did they charge?
Key West:Internet Isle Cafe----Lauderdale:Rainbow Cafe..........ck out about.com and type in questions...also on the turnpike and the airport is internet access..
Don't remember the name of the place but a little coffee, breakfast type place on the main drag that goes along the beach (A1A) a couple of blocks from the Bahia Mar has a couple of computers they let people use for very little money. Not very specific, but I hope it helps.

There's an internet cafe upstairs at the Waterfront Market on Key West Bight. There used to be another one in the 2nd or 3rd block of Duval across from Bagatelle, but when we were there in October it had closed.
The KW Library has a list of internet cafes in town--just ask at the desk.
Does anyone know if the FLORIDA LIBRARIES offer internet access?
Internet access from libraries is up to the individual library. As a rule, those libraries in major tourist cities only allow access by locals. The KW library requires you to have a Monroe County address on your driver's license.
ANY info about using internet access at FT. Lauderdale libraries?????
STILL WONDERING are we able to access the internet in any libraries around FT LAUDERDALE?
You can go to the public library and get on the net for free.
If you can do w/o coffee, how about Kinko's? Also, doesn't Starbucks have wifi (assuming you have notebook and wifi)?
There is a place in KW on the south side of Truman Avenue near the Duval St junction. Think it is just a grocery store but it was pretty quiet and not too expensive when I used it last year. It is behind the tourist desks, near the car/buggy hire place. Sorry the directions are so vague.

I live in Fort Lauderdale and had no problem using the KW Library to access the internet (just put your name on the waiting list if it's busy; they only let you use it for a certain period of time.)
YES, the libraries in Broward County (where Ft. Laud. is located) has internet access. I doubt you need a library card, but since I use my own computer, I never needed the one at the library. The main branch of the library is in downtown Ft Lauderdale on the east side of Andrews Avenue a block south of Broward Blvd (between Broward Blvd and Las Olas Blvd.) |
In FLL there is an internet cafe in the Southport Shopping Center on 17th a couple of stoplights after crossing the bridge coming from the beach. (There's also a Publix in the shopping center and the cafe itself is located behind an Arby's.) It seems like it was only about $5 for half an hour (maybe only $3 something). I always use Kinkos as a for sure spot but this was cheaper than Kinkos. In Key West there is one just one half block south of Duval but I don't remember the cross street - not more than 5 - 6 blocks from Mallory Square. Also very resonable. |
