gbs,<BR>I live in 'near' Phila. suburbs. The most direct route from Phila. to Poconos is the Northeast Extention/PA turnpike. With that in mind and the interests you mention, you may like to spend time in Chestnut Hill, PA (perhaps the Chestnut Hill Hotel - www.chestnuthillhotel.com). Lots of interesting/historical sights, good dining, galleries, antiques, etc. Another area between Phila/Poconos is Lansdale or Harleysville...but I don't know about accommodations.
