Interested in the STRATOSPHERE
I haven't read much on the message boards about the Stratosphere Hotel. I am interested in staying there next month. If anyone has stayed there recently I would love to hear your opinion. THANKS!
From what I've heard (I know someone in LV) there is a great deal of crime around that area. There are enough other choices-- try something else. Imperial Palace, Sunset Station, etc

Straosphere is on a deserted area that made me uncomfortable walking around in the middle of the day. It is not near any other casino. If this is your first trip, try to stay on the strip, it will unable you to do the most being walking distance of many casinos at once. visit www.lasvegastaxi.com The bulletin boards are well organized Casinos, Restaurants, etc lots of info available.

above statement should read "enable" not "unable" being in the center of the strip can give you more choices.

I would NOT recomment staying at the Strat. It is somewhat isolated and in a pretty bad area. I would choose a property located along the mid-strip area such as the Flamingo Hilton, Ballys, Caesars, etc. You didn;t mention what your cost criteria is so it is hard to recommend a specific one. I would check with the Flamingo Hilton which is an excellent place and extremely well located. They have been running special almost all year with rates as low as $39.00 per room/nt. I do NOT recommend the Imperial Palace, Circus Circus nor Excalibar as well as some others.

I forgot to mention that you should visit some of the Las Vegas web site. The one that I would recommend is "Las Vegas On Line" and their URL is:

www.lvol.com

They have a lot of good information and their BBS is the best. Just ask your questions and you will get many answers. The regular participants are pretty good folks.
