Insects in Orlando in December?

Many rentals in the Orlando area, boost screened porches, so I assume there are insects to keep out. Does this happen all year or just in the summer. We are looking at renting a place for late Dec./early Jan. How important is a screened porch?

That depends on how much you mind insects. I would never take anyplace without screens.

I was in all the parks (and stayed at All Stars Music) in January a couple years ago. I hardly noticed any bugs, just the odd mosquito. Not enough to be bothered with repellant.

Some of it may have to do with the localized area. So, if you're near a lake, pond or canal, you may get more bugs. But in general, I don't think bugs are a big problem in December.

I've been to Orlando many times in December, and bugs have never been a problem.

Bugs are everywhere that there is no breeze however, you are much more likely to encounter them in temps over 80 degrees.

Everyone has screened in porches in Florida because they surround their pools, not so much for the bugs. At least that is my guess.
