Inexpensive places to stay in San Fransisco.

A couple of my friends are planning on spending 10 days in San fransisco. Does anybody know of inexpensive places to stay in San fransisco?

We are big fans of The Andrews Hotel on Post Street..two blocks from Union Square...only 44 rooms and hard to get in.. go to www.andrewshotel.com and check it out.. No one I've recommended has not wanted to go back..

Hotel San Remo in North Beach is a favorite of mine - but I am local, so do not stay there often and I personally like the small rooms and the quaint idea of the shared bathrooms... some do not.

Inexpensive hotels are hard to find in San Francisco! It is a very expensive place. But I did a lot of researching before my trip there last summer. You will have a wonderful time! It is one of my favorite cities. Try checking out one of the Travelodges, or Holiday Inns. There are a bunch there and they aren't as expensive as others. There is also a Vegabond Inn..nice area. Close to Fishermans Warf.

The last few times I've stayed in San Francisco I used HotelDiscounts.com to book a room. Recently I was at the Hotel Metropolis - the room was small but fairly stylish, and we got free breakfast and afternoon tea as part of the price - $115 per night. Just a block or two from Union Square, still in a safe neighborhood.

Pacific Heights Inn has kitchenettes and it ran us $110 a night on a deal. Call them direct and you may get a better 10 day price. Very small (about 19 or 20 rooms) with coffee / breakfast rolls and parking (if needed) all included. Bedrooms decent size; bathrooms small, but not a share. Manager/ service etc. for a 2/ 3 star- very accessible and obliging. I could have served a dinner for 6 with all the kitchen etc. equipment included. Kitchen was a super nice area to sit/ read etc. Never had a kitchenette before this and it sure had its advantages. I loved the area and it was about 2 blocks to the Union Street shopping area. Union Square etc. all easy public transit also. For the prices/value in S.F. it was a GOOD deal.
