Inexpensive Key West Accomodations

Hello,

What are some hotels/Inns/B&Bs that are less expensive in Key West? We're not looking for anything fancy -- just clean. It will just be my husband and I.

We will have a car -- if that makes a difference.

Thanks!
Cindy

A car can be more of a liability than an asset in Old Town Key West because not all small inns and B&Bs have parking spaces. For a general idea of what's available check out keywestinns.com

A major price variable is the time of year you plan on visiting. Special event times, such as Fantasy Fest at the end of October are much more expensive than other times.

I've read some good reports about The Grand, on Grinell, in Key West. A few blocks further 'out' than some, but certainly walkable. Their web site also says they have free parking.

We stayed at Merlin Guesthouse last Novermber. Had a small cottage for $129.00 per night, inlcuding breakfast. We thought it was great. We had a car the first night (returned the next day to the rental agency) and managed to find onstreeet parking right across the street.

I'd certainly recommend staying in Old Town rather than at one of the chain motels out on Roosevelt, even if they are cheaper.

The cheap chain hotels on Roosevelt Blvd are to be avoided. Horrible location. My sister lives in Key West and I always book a place through Priceline when I visit her. I've stayed at LaConcha right in the middle of Old Town for $50 (and was upgraded to a suite for free),at Sheraton Suites (a little ways from Old Town, but close enough) for $60, and at the Reach on the southern end for $65.

During Fantasy week the 4 star resorts/hotels go for around $450 a day and the cheaper Roosevelt hotels go for $200 to $340 a day and they don't take Priceline bids.

I enjoyed a very nice stay at the Southernmost Point Guest House a few years ago. www.southernmostpoint.com

Ditch the car if you can because they are such a liability in Key West.
