Inexpensive hotel near San Francisco State College

I will be moving my daughter home from San Francisco State College in May.
If anybody could please recommend some inexpensive accommodation close to college.
Thank you , it is very appreciated.

Unfortunately, there really aren't any hotels or motels near San Francisco State at all. I assume you'll have a car? If so, it may make sense to stay in South San Francisco.

The closest "ok" hotel would probably be the Hampton Inn in Daly City. It's only a few miles from campus. However, it isn't in a nice neighborhood, so while you could sleep there comfortably, there'd be no walking around the neighborhood!

The school is easily accessible by public transportation. My choice would be to stay where I can enjoy the charms of San Francisco, such as downtown in the general vicinity of Union Square: http://www.sfsu.edu/~parking/directions/

happytrailstoyou, if the OP were coming for a visit, that would be one thing. But she's coming to move her daughter home, so presumably being able to take the bus or trolley to SFSU from her hotel would not be of any use to her.

Also, sf7307, your Hampton is on this list - I think

Actually, that's a different Hampton Inn -- farther from campus, but in a better area. The area where this one is is all office buildings, office parks, and hotels.
