Inexpensive hotel in Savannah- just passing through

Hi! I'm looking for a clean, inexpensive hotel near/in the historic district for under $100 a night. We're only staying one night on our drive to Florida, so it doesn't have to be fancy. I'll have my three kids along (ages 7 and under). Thanks in advance!

Phoebe Bird, don't know how you feel about staying at Days Inns (I usually won't), but the ones in Savannah (and Charleston) in their historic areas are rated "5 sunbursts", and I have heard they're considerably nicer than your typical Days Inn. They have a special web rate of $81.00 for 2 double beds........I used a date of July 7. They have a wonderful location there in the historic district, if you're interested (you can check it out at daysinn.com):

Days Inn
201 W. Bay Street
Savannah, GA, 31401 US
912-236-4440

Hope this helps..........

Friends who have stayed at the Days Inn for conferences were very pleased. Nothing fancy, but clean in a good location. The Hampton Inn in the historic district is VERY nice, but will be pricier. Maybe they are offering a good AAA rate.

gracieb, I checked the Hampton Inn, and it was $150 (because that would be my first choice among the less expensive hotels.) Even with a discount, I think it would probably be hard to get it below $135....

I've never personally used it, but roomsaver.com seems to have good prices and it's got good info too. They've got that Days Inn for $79.

While I agree staying in the historic district would be best, you might want to consider staying closer to I-95 and getting a swimming pool. We stayed at the La Quinta near I 95 and drove into the historic area for dinner. It was fine. Don't forget to ask for AAA rates whatever you do.

The Days Inn in the historic district does have a swimming pool, mclaurie.:-)
