Last July there were some good deals on travelzoo.com, but for a room for 4 you might have to think about increasing your budget.
Maybe do a little research and try Priceline for 2 rooms? Bidding is no guaranty of winning but you might get something in the $120-$150 range (per room, pre tax)

Most NYC hotel rooms with 2 beds have 2 doubles. Will that be enough for you? There are some queen/queens but they don't seem to be available and/or within
budget. I do see (from a search on kayak.com) a queen/queen at the newish Courtyard by Marriott upper east side. It's mostly $199/night with a few nights at $219. Tax will be another 15%. The area is very nice but residential and it's not that convenient for typical tourist activities, but very good value.
If 2 doubles are ok, both the Holiday Inn Midtown (west 57 st.) and the new Holiday Inn Express Chelsea have double doubles for around $199. The HI Express seems to only have smoking rooms left.
If 2 of you are prepared to sleep on a sofabed (not a great option for a week) you can find a one bedroom suite at the Beekman Tower for around $200/night with a queen bed in the bedroom and a sofabed in the living room.
The Affinia Dumont has studio suites with 2 queen beds that also come with a small kitchen. This would be a good option if it fits your budget.
