Inexpensive Central Park View
Hello, is there such a thing as a cheap hotel ($300ish in mid-October) with a central park view, now that the Mayflower is gone?
Thank you |
No. $300 will hardly get you a room in New York in October.
You might try asking for a upper floor at Le Parker Meridian. Also, I had a obstructed park view from the Hilton New York (Sixth Avenue) before. |
$300 in NYC in October is pretty much a budget hotel - and unlikely to have views of anything. Even hotels that have Park views often charge more for those rooms - so you would probably be looking for more like $500 - unless something happens to slow the price increases.
You might try some on the upper west side to see what they get for Park views - but I don;t think $300 will do it. |
In Oct. for $300, the only view you can get for Central Park is from a tree...

Is October such a really expensive time to be in New York?
What chance of an apartment for a family of 6? |
You might look into an apt rental if there are 6 of you. I doubt you'll get one with a park view, though. Yes, October is an expensive time to visit because it is convention season and a beautiful time of year, so the hotels are booked. For our wedding in Sept, we had a difficult time getting rooms at $200 a night and they certainly weren't park view.
|
FYI - the average hotel room rate in NYC is over $300 - and October is high season and a Park view is a scarce amenity. So - yes you really can;t expect that for $300 - you can get something pleasant if you hunt - but none of the extras.

For a restaurant view of the park (I know this isn't what you asked, but if you can't get the hotel, try this)
check out Nirvana, on the top floor on Central Park South (you need to look up the exact address). Yes, it's Indian, but upscale, beautiful and with a wonderful view of the park. The last time we went, we saw wonderful autumn color. |
I'll second Diana's suggestion of Nirvana and offer another suggestion -- have a drink at the rooftop bar of the Metropolitan Museum. They are open until 8:45 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

You won't get a Park view but a nice view nonetheless... try The Kitano Hotel on Park Ave. www.kitano.com
