Inexpensive Accomodations in Manhattan!

Headed in November with a tour group overseas. Plan on stopping in Manhattan for 2 nights midweek & am looking for inexpensive hotel accomodations (less than $150 per night) in the downtown area. I have been told that you can find them so I thought this might be the place to begin my search. Any suggestions?

Go on www.priceline.com. Midweek rates are expensive due to business travel. Check www.biddingfortravel.com for guidance on how much to bid re neighborhood.

Let me clarify that the specific dates are November 2 & 3rd so we won't be near the Thanksgiving holiday. Also am traveling double, not single!

November 3rd may be a problem because that is the Thursday before Marathon Weekend (sold out citywide event) and most hotels require minimums. Marathon weekend is one of the busiest of the year.

I know we are arriving the 3rd and when I booked my hotel the begining of March, the best rate I could find was $199 per night.

Try hotwire also.

I read in one of the earlier posts about this place when I was looking for budget accomodations at NYC. Check this out - http://www.madison-hotel.com/...Dont know how good or bad it is..

I just checked hotwire for those dates which is a good indicator of priceline and EVERYTHING was $250-$500.

I think the marathon has done you in. You could check with citylightsnewyork.com and see if they have an apt/b and b available.

It has done me in mclaurie. It has taken over my life.

I admire your determination GT. I may have to come to cheer you on. ;)

Check out the Cosmopolitan Hotel - Tribeca, Holiday Inn - Soho, and Howard Johnson Express Inn - Lower East Side. They all are budget hotels and get decent reviews in tripadvisor.

I just compared prices on the hotels I recommended in tripadvisor. Cosmopolitan has rooms priced at $145. Taxes aren't included so it will come to a little more than $150. Based on what everyone else says with regard to hotel prices for those days, I think this is a good deal.

Sorry guys ... I've been 'out-of-pocket' & not able to reply back but thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to be looking into all these different accomdations.
