Indoor waterparks East coast???
Does anybody know of any indoor waterparks on the East coast?
|
No.
|
Live in Boston area - if there was one anywhere driving distance from here, my kids would have discovered it.
|
How about within driving (or short plane ride) distance from Baltimore/DC area?
|
I am just curious why anyone would want an indoor water park. It seems to me that one of the attractions of a water park is to cool off on a hot day.

The closest one I can think of (I know it's not the east coast) is a place named Full Blast in Battle Creek, Michigan. Other than that I know of 2 others in Minnesota that are supposed to be really great. The Depot in Minneapolis and Tropics in Shoreview.

sounds like a great business opportunity for someone!

For Alf (and anybody considering this business opportunity):
The rationale is that we're planning a winter trip to an area with a lot of outdoors activities (skiing, skating, sledding) etc. However, have you ever been all set for skiing (or other outdoor activities), only to find yourself cooped up in a hotel room with a bunch of active kids because it's melting, raining, whatever outside, so that you can't do any of the outdoorsy stuff you were planning to do? Arcades, shopping, movies aren't really our thing. That's where the indoor waterpark would come in.
BTW, there are quite a few of these parks in Holland, Belgium, Germany ... and Wisconsin.
Don't know about the east coast but Wisconsin has cornered the market on indoor waterparks. Milwaukee and Lake Geneva have small ones but the mother load is in the Wisconsin Dells. There are at least 3 huge ones (including Wilderness which is advertised as the largest indoor waterpark in the country & they have $79 midweek room rates this fall)and numerous smaller ones all in the same town. As for those who ask WHY? When you live in Wisconsin and have kids who are bouncing off the walls with cabin fever by Feb. or Mar. it is a wonderful way to bridge the gap between there and summer weather. In Wisconsin summer weather sometimes doesn't hit til JULY! It's alot more affordable than FLA or CA and we can do it when the kids have a couple days off of school.
