Individual Tickets for the Metropolitan Opera...& a Broadway show
We'd like to get tickets for Tannhauser on October 31st, but I couldn't find anything on the Met's web site about when non-subscription tickets go on sale. Any ideas?
Also, I'd appreciate recommendations for our first-ever Broadway show, early November. Many thanks. |
Are you willing to get the Met tickets from a broker? I got tired of waiting for two performances in April and got ours from an on-line broker. Great seats; not cheap but we've never been to the Met before so worth the money for us.

Do you want to see a play or a musical? What other theater performances have you liked/not liked?
www.didhelikeit.com is one site for reading reviews. |
When you buy Broadway tickets depends on the show you want to see. Most shows sell tickets a few months in advance, but usually just 2 or 3. Tickets generally go on sale in blocks.
If you want to see a specific show, keep a close eye out for when tickets for November go on sale. If you want to see a show but don't care which ones, then look in August/September for the November discounts and see what's available. Or you can wait and buy same-day tickets for a discount (usually 30% to 50%) at TKTS when in NYC, but that requires you to stand in line. |
I believe the individual Metropolitan Opera tickets go on sale to the general public late in the summer. We're last in line after the various subscribers.

Single tickets for the Met Opera go on sale June 28.

Jv827, that does not help when you want to see a Met April 2015 performance, hence the use of a broker.

Hi Dukey1. I realize that, but I was responding to Underhill, who is looking to go in October.
Single tickets for April 2015 performances would've gone on sale last August. |
