Where can I learn something about Indian culture in Minnesota?

Hans,

I would start with the Minnesota Historical Society which is located in St. Paul, Minnesota in a brand new fabulous building. Their web site is: www.mnhs.org and that should get you started.

Dear Maria,
thanks a lot for your hint. The site is a treasure for teachers.
Aren't there any places not contorlled by the white man? Have heard that the Indians would never, never get in touch with American citizen but are quite willing to get into contact with foreigeners i.e. Non-Americans.

Hans,

I am not sure what your last posting means. I am not sure if it is a language confusion or where you might be getting an idea that Indian people do not have any contact with "white" people. I am sure that if your student group would like to visit Native American communities both on reservations or off of reservations that could be arranged. Again, I have no specific information for you about this but the contacts at the Minnesota Historical Society might have some ideas about Native American resources available in the community.

Hans, you may find this article helpful from our St. Paul paper today. It is about Native Americans who are leaving this metro area to return to outstate reservations. Pioneerplanet.com is the site.
