Indian Mounds in South Carolina, North Carolina or Georgia

We're visiting all of the states above in a couple of weeks and would like to know peoples' opinions about the different Indian Mound sites. Which are the most interesting/impressive?

If you are in the eastern part of NC, the mounds near Manteo are interesting. In mid state I am not aware of any particularly good mound sites, but the Museum of Man at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem is a very good resource for Indian archaeology in NC.

I have visited the Etowah mounds in Georgia, and found them quite impressive. http://gastateparks.org/info/etowah/

How interesting. I've lived in NC a long long time and had not known they had Mound builders. I know the sites in Ohio quite well. Thanks for the heads up. and did not know about the museum at Wake. Maybe a summer field trip with the grandson.
