inclusive resorts any suggestions?
My husband and I are thinking about an all inclusive resort for our next vacation. Looking on the web, there are alot to choose from. We're interested in golf and the usual water sports. Does anyone have any recommendations, good experiences or bad...what to look for and also look out for.
Thanks!
My husband and I love the all inclusive concept and we have visite numberous resorts. Check into the Super Club resorts in Jamaica. We stayed at Breezes-Runaway Bay (it was called Jamaica Jamaica when we went). My husband likes to play golf and he scuba dives and it was all included. Everything was included. Food was great -- drinks even better. Dinner in the evening was a lovely experience. We always had dinner in the inside dining room (we preferred that to the buffet outside each evening). Dinner always took about a couple of hours and we met some very nice people while eating. After dinner we took in the show. While we have been to some all inclusives that were more plush, of all the all-inclusive resorts, both my husband and I feel this one was the best. We had a lot of fun. Both golf and water sports are right there at the resort. Hope this helps.

Yuck - stay away from Jamaica. Very poor island - - you will be overwhelmed with the beggars and people trying to sell you stuff. Not too safe to venture away from your hotel without being in a tour group and tipping heavily.
In response to your other reply, while Jamaica is a poor island, the resort was very nice. There is enough going on that you do not have to leave the resort. My husband and I went on guided tours when we ventured out. We have a tendency to stay at the resorts since that is what we like to do. I suggested this place to someone else and they loved it. I guess it's a matter of opinion. Your travel agent should be able to help you.

However, since this query is in the US forum, I'm going to assume you might be looking for an all-inclusive resort in the US, or at least an American plan or modified American plan.

If so, I would recommend Pinehurst, in Carolina, with LOTS of great golf (and tennis) to choose from. Main building, dating from 1895, I believe, has wide verandas on three sides with rockers, ceiling fans, etc. There is a nice pool, a little lake, fishing, etc., and the resort will pick you up at the airport (Raleigh-Durham) and drive you between things on property in snappy station wagons.

I recall a very high level of service and friendliness among the employees, live music for dancing at dinner as well as a piano player at breakfast, etc. Very relaxing....

It's me again. I'm sorry but it did not register that you may be looking for an all-inclusive in the U. S. I agree Pinehurst is a lovely place. The Homestead in Virginia is also a wonderful place. The Balsams in New Hampshire is nice but very quiet. None of these provide water sports, just golf. All are lovely in very different ways.

I'd suggest South Seas Plantation on Captiva Island , Fl. There's only a 9 hole golf course but several courses on Sanibel. You can windsurf, jetski, sail, fish, swim and eat at wonderful restaurants-tennis too.
