I've stayed at the MGM but never at Paris.
I liked the MGM but found it somewhat "removed" from the more central part of the Strip where I usually stay more often.

At Paris you'd be closer to places such as Bellagio, Caesars and The Venetian (with all that shopping if that is of interest) although I understand MGM may be linked to the monorail by now.

I'd recommend Paris over MGM. I think the location is one of the best in Vegas. I stayed there recently and really enjoyed it. I've heard that the rooms at Paris are small but we ended up with a corner room which was very large. I liked gambling much better at Paris than MGM. I'm not sure why, just a feeling I get at MGM makes me like it less. It is a nice place though.

I like Paris and have stayed there twice. While I think the location is superior, I personally am not turned off by MGM's location. It is a matter of what you plan on doing and I assume that you do since you are not a first timer.

The only real downside of Paris is the pool area which I do not utilize but it does matter to some.

MGM is just too massive for me. I have gambled there and been to shows but have not stayed.

Thanks to all of you. I would opt for Paris as a first choice and then would go for MGM and hope I could get bookings!

While Paris does have a more central location, I found the hotel and casino itself to have nothing to offer, so I had to go to the other nearby casinos even when I stayed at Paris.

Although MGM is at one end of the Strip, you can spend a few days there without having to go anywhere else. It has lots of dining and entertainment options and a better variety of room styles. I would pick MGM, hands down.
There is also a lot around the MGM Grand. M&M World, Hawaiian Marketplace, 2 different 1/2 price show ticket places, and a hub of casinos are all nearby.

Both claim monorail stops, but the Paris stop is actually at Bally's. FWIW, MGM had a monorail BEFORE the Las Vegas Monorail existed.

Take Care,
Mark

Oops..that's right..a monorail connecting two hotels!

I still think Paris is an overall better location.
