In Pittsburgh, keep the car or not?

We are taking a 4 week tour of the Northeast coast and parts of Canada, starting in Pittsburgh and ending there. We plan to fly there and drive immediately to lodgings that will be our base to visit Frank Lloyd Wright houses. When we return to Pittsburgh, we plan to visit the city itself for a couple of days. Do we still need the car then, or can we simply return it as soon as we arrive? Or to put it differently, does Pittsburgh have a decent transportation system for a two day visitor?

You can always UBER so you don't have to park, etc.

That is not an option since I do not have an Iphone or equivalent.

It's been quite a while since I was there, but for the places I would think you would most want to visit in a two day trip, public transportation should be adequate (and easier than dealing with parking) -- but it will depend on where, exactly, you stay. I think you'd do well to check google maps to be sure.

If they aren't already part of your plan, consider visiting the Nationality Rooms at the University of Pittsburgh:

Parking will be a pain, and may wind up costing more than taxi fare. We just used uber and cabs and did fine.
Ditto the suggestion to visit the Cathedral of Learning's nationality rooms, plus the nearby nonsectarian Heinz Memorial Chapel. Also recommend the Frick and the Phipps Conservatory and botanical gardens.

You can use Uber without a smarphone--if you even have a phone.

Don't forget to include the Darwin Martin house in Buffalo, just fully restored in a $52 million project over the last two decades... it's part of a full Frank Lloyd Wright collection in Buffalo including a boathouse, mausoleum, and even a service station... have fun!

Thanks for the suggestions. We are taking a full day tour, which is the only one available just by chance bu stretching our travel schedule by one day; none of the other tours would be given while we would be in the area.
