In Oklahoma...what else to do??
 

Staying in Bricktown. So far I've visited the Memorial and the state house. I went to OCCC for the Chinese New Year celebration. I've walked along the canal.

Saturday I plan to drive to Pawhuska to see the Pioneer Woman's store/restaurant. Any worthwhile stops along the way?

Sunday I'm going to Wichita Mountain to do some hiking...again, any stops for the way there or back?

Looking for some good BBQ. And what else should I do in the city? Can't really do the museums and such since they close at 5pm and I'm in class until 330.

If you are going to Pawhuska, then I'd recommend going all the way to Bartlesville and seeing the Frank Lloyd Wright building there. It's called the Price Tower Arts Center, and tours are offered a few times a day. It's worthwhile. There's also another Wright home in town, but I can't remember the address off-hand.

Near the Price Tower is Murphy's a hole-in-the-wall with excellent hamburgers, but you will not be impressed by the surroundings. If you like barbecue, I like Dink's on Frank Phillips Blvd. near the hospital.

Alternatively, there's Woolaroc, the former Phillips ranch that's pretty much in the middle between Pawhuska and Bartlesville. It's got a nice art museum with a great Western art collection. There are also animals and some historic buildings.

You could easily make a very full day of this area, depending on your interests. There's a surprising amount to see in Osage County.

The Oklahoma City Art Museum is open late Thursdays, until 9 pm.

Bachslunch...I think it's only in April and later that they are open late and have music. I'll double check though.

I'll add Bartlesville to my day on Saturday. I think I'll try Murphy's. It looks like the have a poutine like dish with fries and gravy...

The Noble natural history museum in Norman is interesting. Not sure what is going on now, but the OKC arts district has galleries and semi-frequent events (or used to). The cowboy museum is worth a visit (and its grounds). Don't let the name scare you off.

Cowboy Hall of Fame

Much as I liked the Narional Cowboy Hall of Fame and Museum, it's not open after 5 pm, which as I understood it was a deal-breaker for the OP.

Rizzo0904, the museum's website currently lists the late Thursday hours. Hopefully that's accurate.

Had a great day! Started off at the Phillips 66 Museum. I found the aviation aspect very interesting as that's my line of work. The women there recommended Murphy's as well, so I had a hot hamburger. Really good but really bad for you.

Then I headed to Woolaroc. Loved it! Spent a few hours in the museum, bought gifts for the kids, and enjoyed having to stop for bison crossing the road.

The disappointing part of the day was Pioneer Woman's Mercantile. Long lines. They were out of some items. Didn't enjoy my sandwich. The cinnamon was very good though. Overall, I wouldn't go back.

Tomorrow I'm heading to Wichita Mountain.

I used to OK on business, my best advice is to go to TX.

Really enjoyed Wichita Mountains yesterday. Hiked Elk Mountain. Nice views, saw some bison and prairie dogs. Just a nice day.
