In LA for short time
Actually we get in on Jan 03,2006 at around 4pm and leave the next night at 10:30pm.
Any suggestions for dining for the two dinners? |
And where would you be staying?
L.A.'s distances are huge. Traffic can be horrendous. This has to be accounted for. |
Don't have the hotel booked yet but it'll be near the CBS studio.
|
Ok then you will most likely stay at the Famer's Daughter on Fairfax. Since you won't get to your hotel from LAX for at least an hour.. I would suggest that you drop off your bags and wanter to the Farmer's Market/Grove on Fairfax and Beverly/3rd Street: Its kinda fun you can have a nice meal and buy famous chili sauce at the Farmer's Market.

Thanks Thyra.
Any suggestions for fine dining? |
What's your budget and what kind of food are you looking for??
The Farmer's Market/Grove area is a good choice. Lots of eating places there. The famous Jerry's Deli is nearby as well as the Hard Rock Cafe. |
Budget is not a problem for dining.
Is the Farmers Daughter Hotel much better than others that have been recommended to me in the same area such as: Guesthouse Beverly Econolodge and Suites Econolodge Hollywood Beverly Terrace |
I like the Famersdaughter; it has recently been refurbished, it's basic though not a ton of amenities, but if you are looking at econo lodges it should be on par.
For dining the grove has a lot of restaurants, I wouldn't call any of them particularly "fine" you will certainly have a lot of choice; Woodranch BBQ, and a million little places in the actual Famer's Market like the creperie and the cajon place.. you could also do the Cheesecake Factory and places like that.. but if you want fine dining and are feeling adventurous and have lots of money: Sushi Roku Yamashiro http://farmersdaughterhotel.com http://www.thegrovela.com/ http://www.yamashirorestaurant.com/ |
WOW!! Thank you so much Thyra.

The view at Yamashiro's is really spectacular! Appetizers at the bar is a good idea too. You might want to try "AOC" for spanish tapa's, food is WONDERFUL and lovely spanish wines. It's on 3rd street, one block north of the Farmers Daughter (great area to be in) and 2 or 3 blocks west on 3rd street. Your hotel will know it. The deli that is on Fairfax, a few blocks north of Farmers daughter is Canter's, not 'fine dining', but definitely worth having breakfast at, it's open 24 hours.

Holy Crap!
we were to go to the Price is Right but it just got cancelled for this week, and we leave tomorrow. Any last second suggestions for what we can do now. We arrive Tuesday morning at 10:30 am (LAX) and leave at 11:00 pm Wednesday for Vegas. A whole 36 hours. We are staying at the Farmer's Daughter. Thanks in advance. |
I think I'd plan to dine in Marina Del Rey or Santa Monica on Wednesday so that you have less of a drive to LAX, though after 9pm I guess it's not bad from Hollywood.
There are no tv tapings until Friday but you could do the Warner Brothers tour in Burbank (wbstudiotour.com) or Universal Studios. From your hotel, you could bus to Hollywood...see the Walk of Fame, then subway up to Universal if you wanted...not have to drive in traffic. I think the last tours of the day start around 3pm so you MIGHT be able to even make them on Tuesday. The weather is supposed to be nice so lunch in Malibu on Wednesday followed by a visit to the Getty Center maybe? |
Thanks Tracey.
Is Venice beach a no go this time of year? |
