In Baltimore for one night
Where to eat? What to do?
|
Where are you staying in Baltimore? What time of year? There are all kinds of restaurants in every price range, many within walking distance of Harbor Place. What do you like and how much do you want to spend?
|
early February, staying near the airport, but we have a car. We love seafood.
|
Across from the Inner Harbor is Legal Seafood, a restaurant that deserves its good reputation. The Inner Harbor itself has a branch of Phillips Seafood. Both good but of the two I prefer LS. Best of all IMO is Tio Pepe, a Spanish (like in Spain)restaurant that has a long list of fish dishes that are unique and wonderful. We particularly like the grouper and the paella for two which is world class, loaded with shrimp, mussels, a lobster, etc. Tio Pepe is more expensive than the other two but for us, worth it. For Tio Pepe, you will need reservations.
Next to the Inner Harbor is Little Italy with loads of restaurants, most quite good. A favorite of ours in Little Italy is Vacarros, an amazing all dessert place. It is something special. |
According to the Legal Sea Foods website the Baltimore restaurant is closed (doesn't say why).

I highly recommend Bertha's crabcake, better than the mussels. This is located in Fell's Point.
Wander around Lexington Market for lunch. Neither of the above have the touristy glitz of Harborplace; they are a bit more gritty and basic, but that is what I desire when I visit Baltimore. |
