Impressionists at the deYoung in SF

A heads up to people who are in or will be in the SF area soon:

The first of two impressionist exhibits on loan from the Musee d'Orsay is currently at the deYoung museum in SF. We went yesterday and it was wonderful - just fabulous to see those paintings in person.

If you go on a weekend, I would recommend going early in the day because it is very popular.

The Legion of Honor also has a companion exhibit about life in Paris at the time the impressionists were doing their work. I haven't been to that one, but it looks neat.

I just got tickets for end of August. Flying from NYc via LA. I forgot to order headphones - can that be done the day of or do they require advanced reservations?

You can order headphones the day of. In fact, there was someone selling the audiotour portion as we were queueing up to go in. Not to worry :)

We were just recently at an impressionist exhibit (private collection) at the National Gallery in DC (letting you know that because I know you'll be there soon). We're definitely going to hit the SF d'Orsay exhibit before it ends.
