I'm not a gambler but I'm going to Vegas

That's right...I'm off to Vegas next month for a few days (business). I am wondering if anyone has hotel suggestions. I am NOT interested in staying right in the middle of everything (the Strip) though, I would like to stay walking distance to the strip (and the Las Vegas Convention Center) if possible.
Any suggestions for a moderately priced hotel...I am not a gambler...so the hotel need not be flashy with a zillion slot machines and game tables ect.
THanks a lot for your help.

There's a Marriott Suites, a Residence Inn and a Courtyard very close the the Convention Center (2-4 blocks). They are about a 3-5 minute walk from the old/undesirable end of the strip.
I'd choose the Marriott Suites of these. It's a high rise, about 5-ish years old. The Residence Inn's about 10-12 years old.

The LV Courtyard is literally across the street from the convention center. Definitely no frills (no slots/etc), but found it to be a refreshing change of pace from all the activity on the strip. The LV Hilton is next door to the convention center, so for convenience, you can't be it - but you'll have all the bells and whistles at this place. Walking to the strip is doable from either of these places, but it's a very l-o-n-g walk (not 5 minutes as previously posted) and would put you close to the Stardust Hotel. It's a bit of a walk from here to say, the Mirage, Venetian, Caesar's Palace, and further yet to the Parisian, Bellagio, etc. Hope this helps!

Hey Debs, two comments--- first, the distance from the LV Hilton's north parking lot to the middle of the Convention Center is the same as the distance from the Marriott Suites to the Strip, and second, The Marriott Suites is about 600 yards from the Strip. That's a little over a quarter mile. Most healthy people can walk a quarter mile in 5 minutes (that's 20 minutes/mile). Runners can run a quarter mile in less than 50 seconds.

You should also look into the Alexis Park Resort.

Don't laugh. Motel 6 2 blocks off the strip. Can park right in front of your room and walk right in without having to pass hundreds of slots. And for $34.00 can't be beat.

AmeriSuites is across the street from the Hard Rock Cafe. You can take a long walk downtown or they will shuttle you. Includes breakfast. Coca Cola exhibit is nice and so is Valley of the Fire State Park if it isn't too hot outside.
