Ilima Hotel

I am looking to book 9 days at the Ilima, I have read the Trip Advisor, it doesn't sound too bad. Has anyone had first hand experience staying here.

Need to book a place fast that is not too expensive with kitchen.

Thanks

Stayed at the Ilima in 2001 with 2 kids. The full kitchen was great. It is about 3 blocks to the beach. Never used the pool. DH "packed" one of the room keys into his daypack which resulted in a missing key charge. At the time they still used keys not keycards.

My mom and dad stayed there 2 times in the 90's. They loved the unit (I think they had a studio), and were still walking well so didn't mind walking the 3 blocks.

For the money, it's the best in Waikiki. It's very clean, the rooms are large, the lanais are huge and the management is great. Furthermore, there is free parking right on the premises. Try to get a room overlooking the Ali Wai Canal. It's a great view.

I haven't stayed there but visited and checked out the lobby, elevators, pool area. It seemed quite workable. The pool area is very bare (cement) so I have a couple other hotels I prefer myself, in a similar price range.
