If you're traveling to Oahu and visiting Kailua.....

...pick up this month's issue of Honolulu Magazine. It's got an insider's guide to Kailua, including restaurants, real estate, and beaches!

Melissa, how can I get my hands on this? I bought the Oahu Revealed book, but I'd love to read anything else specific to Kailua since that is where we will be staying.

Holly -- you can go here to subscribe, if you can't find it anywhere else. Maybe you can even order just the one issue you want if you call them.

Where are you staying in Kailua? Is it good for families? I am looking for a nice hotel to stay at with our 3 and 5 year olds - away from the super crowded areas.

There are no luxury hotels in Kailua - but there are oodles of houses to rent - check out vrbo.com and you might find something really nice.

We found a nice place through vrbo.com. I've been to Oahu a few times before and have always stayed in Waikiki, but spent most of my time exploring the other parts of the island. This time I'll stay in Kailua with my kids, who have never been to Hawaii before. I'm really looking forward to sharing it with them.
Thanks for the tip Juanita. I'll check it out.

I emailed the magazine to request a copy of the April edition and their contact person emailed me back right away. I had to order it over the phone, but I did that today and it should arrive the middle of next week. I can hardly wait to read it. Thanks again for the tip, Melissa and Juanita.

Hi Holly, sorry I didn't reply earlier. I've been away on a trip! But I'm glad you got to get a copy of Honolulu Magazine!
