If you had a choice, Aladdin or New York New York
Hi,
I have been to Vegas a bunch of times, but am going with a group of people that want to either stay at Aladdin or New York New York, ( I have never stayed at either) if you have experienced either or both hotels, I would love to hear your thoughts on the rooms, service etc etc.
Thanks!

Just stayed at Aladdin two weeks ago. I was very impressed. Previously I've stayed at Bellagio, Mirage, Treasure Island, Bally's, and Flamingo. Aladdin measured up, except, of course, not in the same league as Bellagio. But the room was beautiful, and the bath was immense! We failed to put out the don't disturb sign the first night and the maid knocked on the door at 8 AM sharp (just as the little note says they will). We said we were going to breakfast in about a half hour, we did, and returning within an hour, our room was made up. After that day, we looked for her when we left each morning -- always along our hall, told her we were going out and she'd immediately make up the room. We liked that.
By the way, in booking I had found several internet deals, but called Aladdin direct. I whined about how the price for two of the three nights was more than I wanted to spend, and finally they "discovered" that they still had a special bed and breakfast rate at $89 available for all three nights. It actually only included breakfast for one of the nights, but was still a great deal. Check it out and be sure to whine!

I have stayed at NYNY but not Aladdin. NYNY is designed to be like the real thing which means that the rooms are relatively small. I liked it there and the atmosphere of the casino but, if it's cool (standard) rooms that you want, you may be better off at the Aladdin.

Yes, the deal was for $89 a night, but it took the person quite a while to "discover" this deal. It is actually normally a two night with one breakfast or dinner in the Cafe included, but they were also able to add a third night at the same rate -- during the weekdays only, of course.

I personally like the location of the NYNY better - that is bc you can hop right on the tram to Mandalay.
I also like the actual casino better at NYNY. The rooms are a bit smaller, however the newly remodeled Park Avenue Deluxe rooms are a bit larger.
I have also heard that with the Aladdin / Planet Hollywood takeover the service has gone downhill.
*dot* - as a local casino host I can get great deals at 6 hotels, please email me if you are interested

I'll vote for Aladdin too. Nice rooms, but marvelous bathrooms!! The downside to Aladdin is that if you have a car the parking lot is a LONG walk from hotel via the Desert Passage shops. Aladdin location is great however. The staff were all very pleasant when we were there in the spring and the food in the restuarants was fine. We had no trouble having our room made up each morning while we went to breakfast, the maids were very obliging. They also have a PF Chang's at the Aladdin in case you are interested.

Don't get me started on LasVegas hotel parking. We arrived on early Sunday afternoon in amazingly heavy Strip traffic. We turned down the side street to the Aladdin and were in a line for valet parking which was incredibly long and not moving at all. We noticed the other lane directed us to "self park" so we did. The car stayed there for the whole time, but Lori is right. We had to wheel our bag through the entire length of the Passage Shops -- think going one end of a shopping mall to the other. I don't mind using valet parking, but when you have to wait an hour for them to get to you, and often that long to bring your car when you want to leave, I consider it a nuisance not a convenience. Our experience was very similar at Bellagio by the way.
