If not Hana, then where?
We are staying at the Hyatt Regency in Ka'anapali. We are definitely renting a car for a day or two. If we don't do the road to Hana, what are some suggestions of other great sites or activities to see and do on the island? Thanks in advance for your help!

We actually thought the road around West Maui was more spectacular than the Hana drive-we did it twice!! If you have Maui Revealed, read the description
starting on page 55. Timid drivers may not find it enjoyable but we thought it was well worth the occasional nail-biting!!! :-) Laurie

We only drove 1/2 way to HAna, then turned around. It was very nice. We had breakfast on the beach at Ho'okipa & watched the windsurfers. We picked up a picnic lunch in Pa'ia, after we ate lunch we drove home.

The Iao Needle is pretty interesting to drive to and walk around there.

Also, we rented snorkel gear, picked up a snorkel map & went shore snorkeling around the island. The beaches weren't very crowded at all.

Have a great vacation!

The raod around West Maui (from Kaanapali to Wailuku and back to Kaanapali) IS spectacular and it only takes a few hours. You can do it before noon time and still have the whole afternoon ahead of you.

My vote goes to West Maui drive also. We had done this drive 3 times and enjoyed every minute of it. I also thought it was better than the Hana drive.

To the people who suggested West Maui, are there any waterfalls along the route?
|
Yes, there are several waterfalls you can view from roadside. I don't know you can hike to them or not.

There better attractions around west Maui drive: Nakalele Blowhole, Olivine Pools, Kahakuloa Head, etc. They are fun short hikes to get to them. They are beautiful and fun places to be.
