If it rains in San Diego
We are coming to SD next week and the forecast shows it may rain on Saturday. What is there to do inside besides shopping?
|
A couple years ago DH and I were in SD on a "rainy" February weekend. There was actually only a few showers and very light sprinkles off and on. This "rain" was all over the news like it was a big deal, so I suspect that significant rain is not likely. We still did all the outdoor things we had planned.
If it does actually rain for more than a few minutes at a time, you can check out the museums at Balboa Park. |
Just last night the tv weatherman said there is a possibility of significant rain next week...he mentioned Tuesday...and it would last for several days. Lots of stuff happens out in the Pacific which looks as if we'll get rain, but often it comes to nothing. Frequently, the "weather" arrives a day or so later than originally thought. However, we really need rain so few people here will be unhappy if we do get drenched next week. When your annual rainfall is 9 inches, any rain IS a big deal.
J_Correa has a good suggestion with the museums in Balboa Park. Also, Old Town has some indoor places, the Mission San Diego de Alcala is indoors, much of the USS Midway is under cover, and there are many other places too. If the weather is cloudy with showers then that is a good time to visit the Zoo - fewer people and more animal activity. |
A "storm of the century" in San Diego involves about 1/4" to 1/2" of rain! Flooding of parking lots will likely be more of an issue than needing to take shelter even if you hit a really rainy day.

Thanks, I was alittle panicked since we have an 8 month old with us and the thought of trying to figure out what to do was very unappealing. I feel much better now.
