Ideas for travels out west
 

A friend & I would like to meet some where out west for 4-5 days in April or May. She lives in Hawaii. Any suggestions on a common place to meet where we can do some "site-seeing" day trips?

What do you want to do? It would probably be easy for both of you to meet in San Diego, LA, Las Vegas, San Francisco, or Seattle. Also, perhaps Portland. Just depends on what you think is fun.

Also meant to ask, do you want to rent a car? You mention day trips so I'm assuming you do.

In April/ May timeframe taking weather into consideration, I'd vote for San Diego, Palm Springs and San Francisco (maybe Monterey Bay) in that order.

City, ocean, mountain, desert? Ranch country, resort, Indian country, Hispanic?
