Ideas for 25th Anniversary Trip
 

We are looking for a romantic destination to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We are looking to go in the April/May timeframe. We would like a combination of beach/tourism type activities. We are from upstate NY. We are looking for any and all ideas anyone may have. We are looking to be gone for 2 weeks. Many thanks.

You might want to check out the Florida Panhandle -- Pensacola, Fort Walton Beach, Destin, Panama City areas. Gulf Coast and should be warm enough for beach weather. ((b))

Congratulations on 25 years! My suggestion is to look into Charleston and Savannah. Both are very romantic cities. There's excellent sightseeing, dining, and shopping, and a wonderful sense of history. Many B&Bs in both cities offer anniversary/honeymoon packages. They know romance!

Do you like to golf? If so you might like Hilton Head, because you can play golf/tennis/bicycle/swim. It's a big family destination, but in the timeframe you're looking at, school will still be in session. From HH, you can make trips into Savannah (very close) or Charleston (a little more of a hike), if you decide not to stay in either city. Another possibility is Kiawah Island, again sportsy things to do but it's only 15-20 minutes from Charleston.

I'm sure you'll get so many suggestions it will fill your head with romance and anticipation!

Why not the ultimate in beaches/tourism: Hawaii?

First of all congratulations! I second Hawaii. 25 years is very special so make it a special trip. 2 weeks is plenty of time to see the Islands.

If you're willing to consider Hawaii, another couple hours flight time will get you to French Polynesia; hard to imagine a place more romantic.

I vote for Hawaii

Go to an interesting port city and then take a 7 night cruise...you can spend a few days before or after leisurely and then get to see many different places.....Hawaii would be perfect for that too !

I'm taking my better half to Hawaii on a 25th anniv.!! Maui & Kauai for 10 days. Can't wait!!

Bermuda is beautiful in April/May. You could cruise or fly.

who has gone on this cruise has raved about it. Very romantic, very lush

Our 25th is next year.
We had planned on an African Safari/Egypt but given the current warnings for Kenya and the MidEast we are considering finally taking B'bums advice and hit Tahiti, maybe Fiji.
Wish they didn't close down Midway Isl. for awhile.

Or maybe even NZ/Aus.
Ahhhh...planning is half the fun!

The Bora Bora/French Polynesia area looks interesting, but what about terrorist activity in the South Pacific? Thanks for all the great ideas!!

I would definitely go on a cruise. Doesn't matter where, as long as it's warm. I prefer the ship to the ports anyway. I think a cruise is the most romantic way to spend a vacation. Congrats on your 25th, that is truly wonderful.

Due to the uncertain current events, I would suggest you pick a place on the East coast that would have weather that would ensure outdoor possibilities and not be that far from home.

Hilton Head is a nice combination of the sophistication and natural environment with a great beach.

You want to get DIRECT OCEAN FRONT anywhere you choose so you have the gorgeous ocean at all times of day and regardless of the weather.

I especially love the Marriott Grande Ocean which includes a daily pass to Sea Pines for the week.

There is a Direct Ocean front unit available in May. You have the great ocean and the varied tourist activities plus you always have the sounds and view of the sea anytime you are in your unit.

I vote for Hawaii. We went for our 25th and 30th and the plan is to return for our 35th. We take our adult children and they enjoy the islands as much as wedo. Hawaii is very romatic and there is plent to do or just rest and watch the world go by.
