Great trip!! Wonderful that you got to go with your boys. Keep it up, next Alaska? California? Hawaii?

Have fun deciding.

Thanks for the TR

Love the trip report! For others with teenage boys, you could start further north, get your roller coaster fix at Silverwood and ride the Hiawatha Trail. Idaho really does have such varied landscape, and the north is just as beautiful in a different way. And if you ever get back out this way, capecod, I definitely recommend biking the Hiawatha. Disappointed you didn't post the 1880s pic but I'd imagine the teens would never forgive you for that

Did you want more time anywhere, hiking wise? How did the guys like Wind Cave?

I vote for Alaska. I'd love more Alaska trip reports. But your teens would probably appreciate California more...theme parks and sunny beaches and tacos!

Great trip report!

I vote for Alaska. That said, I have only been to Fairbanks, North Pole and the bush. We have family that homesteaded there in the early 60's and early 70's and one married a native Athabascan, so their roots run deep. Anyway, it is gorgeous!!! Our DS went without us the first time, and went up for a couple months in the summer to stay with our uncle at his cabin. He loved it, and went up the next summer as well, and then the rest of us came later for just a couple weeks. We have all been back several times, so you get the idea that we fell in love with it!
