iamq's short, but sweet, quickie honeymoon at Post Ranch Inn, Big Sur

We had only two nights and we couldn't have picked a better place to spend our first nights as a married couple together. This was our fourth visit to Post Ranch Inn and we'll continue to return...probably on our anniversaries now. :-d

The place is still amazing. We stayed in one of the new rooms that were opened earlier this year. They are located on the southern end of the ridge. This part of the property is more open and not as wooded as where the orginal rooms are located. It is just as nice, but has a different feel to it.

We stayed in the upper Pacific Suite room. They are gorgeous, large and lovely with amazing views of the Pacific Ocean. Martin calls the rooms "Opulent Zen" and that description is perfect. They are modern, rustic and luxurious all at once. This room is around 1000 sq ft. and that doesn't include the huge deck.

The only disappointing thing about this room was the missing hollowed out, granite boulder soaking tub that should have been on the deck. Turns out they started cracking shortly after they were installed. Too bad. It would have been nice to have been notified of this before we arrived so I wasn't expecting it. They have become a bit of a joke, as they have been turned into planters at the garden. One of the employees joked with us that they are the most expensive planters in the world. New metal ones that look like the new zen, meditiation pool are being installed later in the year.

As in past visits we spent our time on the property getting massages, soaking in the basking and zen pools, napping on the deck, hiking around the ranch and eating at the excellent restaurant, Sierra Mar. We never left the property, which is fine with us. It is a self contained paradise, but if we had wanted to leave and explore the area, which have done on previous visits, we could have used one of the property's Lexus convertibles to do so.

Here are a few pictures.

It was a wonderful and memorable way to begin this new phase of our life together.

Beautiful photos looks like a wonderful trip. So, that granite tub was a hot tub on the deck?

BeachGirl247 Sep 14th, 2008 08:45 AM

Glad to hear your honeymoon went well. The view from your room is amazing. I don't think I would leave the property either!

Looks like you & Martin enjoyed lots of R&R.

Congrats and welcome home!

"So, that granite tub was a hot tub on the deck?"

Yes, indeed. Not very large or comfortable looking, eh?

The resorts nice too (lol) but it's your enthusiasm about the relationship that warms my heart!!!

Great pictures and what a super place to start the rest of your life together. But who is who? Do you have hair and glasses, or no hair and no glasses? I think a nice orchid wrist corsage would have indicated the bride better!

MomDDTravel Sep 14th, 2008 10:10 AM

iamq- I have them ready and am looking forward to the pictures!!

sheri_lp Sep 14th, 2008 10:26 AM

LOL Patrick! I am the one with hair and glasses...I am also the younger one. ;;)

BeachGirl247 Sep 14th, 2008 12:08 PM

Ok, I went back to look at the granite hot tub planters.
I cannot imaging anyone that would enjoy folding themselves up like a lawn chair to fit into that tub!

I have my tissues and popcorn ready for the next viewing session...... (( foot tapping ))

Here are a few wedding photos. They are from a few cameras that I cobbled together.

A friend served as photographer and we have yet to see those, which will hopefully be better than these.
