Just East of St Louis there's the World's Largest Ketchup Bottle.

what would be really great is if you could couple the cheesy trip with those creepy "side-show" road stops. Have you seen the snake or alligator farms or even worse in little trailers on the roadside? Creepy...and cheesy.

Does anyone have those around? If so, what roadside attractions have you seen?

SOUTH OF THE BORDER!!!

Spammer Jun 23rd, 2002 07:19 PM

what goes better with cheese than SPAM! I see someone mentioned Spam Factory, WI. PLEASE! NOT Wisconsin - Minnesota! The birthplace of Spam! We just had Marion Ross, Barbara Billingsly and Tom Brokaw in town to open the BRAND NEW Spam Museum! Really...cheese and Spam - and then head down the interstate to the Jolly Green Giant Museum! :) www.spam.com

definitely SALEM

Without a doubt, South of the Border. You've got to see it to believe it. ZNo redeeming value at all.

Stephanie's home in S. W. Pa. Very exciting. Plenty of street walkers like Stephanie walking around.

Oh, my friend, have I got the place for you. I "surprised" my hipper-than-thou girlfriend with the bridal shower/bachelorette party of her stylish dreams. We flew her from PA to Tuscon, Arizona; at which point, she was sure we were headed to a glamorous spa. We then drove our rented convertable south several hours to the mountain town of Bisbee, Arizona to stay in the Shady Dell RV Park: a glorious parking lot of restored retro Airstreams, including the Honeymoon Trailer. (Entry in guest book: "If the trailer is rockin, don't come a-knockin.")No detail spared in the interiors, and a fabulous six seater diner onsite. Don't get me wrong...i'm assuming you mean "cheesy" as the ultimate compliment. This place is fabulous. And the town is pretty cute, with good food and antiques, as well as a cheesy mine tour. This is your spot, I promise. See www.theshadydell.com. Have a ball.

The dirtiest, ugliest cheese can be found in my hometown, Bensalem, PA.

Wheeeeeeeeeee

If the MAJORITY of the votes don't go to SOUTH OF THE BORDER, SC, then something's wrong!!!!!!!!! HA-HA! Definately the CHEESIEST!

The Real Leone Jul 5th, 2002 12:48 PM

You guys are the greatest. I think it's going to be South of the Border for our annual cheese trip.
It's scheduled for Labor Day weekend and I have to start planning accomodations and sidetrips.
I'm still kind of torn between South of Border, DollyWood and Atlantic City.
I can't believe how many great ideas you've provided.
There's a lot at stake here because there's a WHEEL OF STINKY CHEESE prize for the cheesiest trip ever planned and it includes a free trip next year for the best all-around excursion ever planned. My buddy Max has won it 3 years in a row for Graceland and I need to blow him out of the water. I hope to finalize my decision by next week. I thank all of you and please keep 'em coming.

Mina Jul 5th, 2002 12:56 PM

Leone, if these posts are as good (or bad, actually) as they sound, that stinky cheese is as good as yours!

Enjoy UFO museum and endless alien-themed stores in good ol' Roswell, NM

I almost forgot Hannibal, MO. Home of
Mark Twain. There are many museums, tours, and you can enjoy Tom Sawyer burgers or even Becky Thatcher fried chicken!

Niagara Falls? NO way..ok there is some tacky crud there...but you can just enjoy the beauty of the falls and avoid the tacky.

Wall Drug / South of the Border and Branson are in a whole league of cheesy of their own. Don't even throw the falls in there.

joe

Rachel Jul 9th, 2002 09:06 AM

Has anyone mentioned SOUTH FORK RANCH??
Remember "Dallas" - it's so much cheesier in person, especially 20 years after the show was popular.

Barb Jul 9th, 2002 09:52 AM

1.Another realllyyyy cheesy ranch from and old TV show- The Ponderosa Ranch, just outside of Lake Tahoe. Step back in time with Hoss, Little Joe and the gang. Total cheesy tourist trap, but great views of the lake from here.
2. South of the Border- wads of chewing gum stuck under our table in the greasy spoon restaurant we ate in, and scary restrooms.

I will also

SteveO Jul 9th, 2002 09:58 AM

I'm intrigued by these responses especially South of the Border. What's the easiest way to fly there from Indianapolis?

Henny Jul 9th, 2002 09:59 AM

In a PLANE!

Ba-dum-DUM!

GOODNIGHT, EVERYBODY!
