Enjoy your flight, Bob.

I'm with you. I'll fly Chicago to Dulles on United.

You people are really out of touch with what's going on around you.
The world's about to enter global conflict and the weapons aren't back yard toys like in WW II.
As for me, I'm concerned about security for me and my family. We've decided to batten down the hatches here. And that includes online access. Yes, we're discontinuing all computer use for the time being. Too risky.
Criticize if you must.
I won't be here to see it any longer.
Think about it, folks.

Yes, I can tell you just how many ways the terrorist attacks have changed my daily activities. I am not working as much....not because I am afraid, but because I have so many things planned with my family. Yesterday, I took my 3 1/2 yr.old daughter to ride her first pony. We are going to the planetarium tomorrow. No, I'm not going to stay home and watch depressing news reports all day. My new limit is one news report per day. I will be out in the big world experiencing all I can with my family because last week I got a BIG reminder that life is too precious to squander.
That's all I will say for now, I want to look into some Hawaii threads....that's something else I've never done (but still plan to).

HUH: You don't read very well do you?
If you had read all the posts, you would have known why I made the statement I did.
Someone called my mom more or less brain dead.
I was just informing Grounded that not all these people doing this job are brain dead.
Also, you don't seem to get it, that these people also go through lots and lots of training before they are allowed to do this job.
Just because someone likes their job or finds it interesting does not mean they do not know how to do it.
I guess since my husband thinks his job is #1, fun, you won't want to fly anymore, as he is the captain for a major carrier.
Wouldn't you just love to know for who?

That last comment by Stacy convinces be of one of two things:
1. Stacy is a troll. And, if so, she's shown herself to have a warped sense of humor.
2. Stacy is not a troll, but is about to go off the deep end!

Why don't we become grounded in the reality of the situation. When all the Muslim extremists start venturing into our country at will, and are firebombing everything in sight, in the top 50 most populous cities, then I will get exited and change my way of life.

As one who considers himself educated and secure, I will not change my life one bit!

Stacey, the USA is made up of over 260 million people. The WTC disaster has killed approximately 6000 patriots. There are 259 + million left that must continue to observe and preserve the freedoms that our forefathers have lent us.

As for travel security- If you want to travel you should need a USA Flight Security ID. This ID will have your picture and fingerprints that will be stored in FBI and FAA files. To check in, your ID and fingerprints must match to get a boarding card. Bags will be IDed the same way. Bags will be checked and secured by military enforcement officers. When you enter the plane your fingerprint must also match your ID and computer files to enter the Jetway. Scaning devices can accomplish this data retrieval. This information will be compared with law enforcement documents from all states and countries for individuals that want to fly in and to the USA. IE if you are a criminal in any way you will be detained. If you are on an FBI watch list you will have your person and bags searched and then detained for what ever violation you are accused of.

Are your civil rights being violated? No. While travel may be considered a right, air travel is a privlidge. One we will never take so lightly as before.

If you don't want to follow these rules, then you will not be flying, period. Will this make the skies safe? Maybe not but it will enable law enforcement to deal with criminal behavior in a way that to date has never been accomplished. Out.

Stacy propbably doesn't know much abt economics. If you don't spend and travel, the economy will tank and you will lose your job. 60% of the US GDP is made up of consumer spending. You may "save" 6 mths salary but you'll be out of a job longer.

Ironic as it sounds, you've got to spend to keep your job!

Stacy is one of those who bought membership in one of those private fortified camps prepared for the collapse of the modern world on Jan 1, 2000. She probably stocked up with months worth of canned goods and water. Took all of her cash out of the bank, etc. You know the type.

Stacy, I took your advice and spent yesterday at home. I did some "honey do" items around the house and promptly fell off my ladder, requiring 12 stitches. Now, had I been on an airplane yesterday this wouldn't have happened!

Interesting --- most posts are radical to either extreme. Typical face of America lies in the middle, folks.

I think some people need to take a class in Economics 101. We are only making the situation worse if we sit home and worry about tomorrow. If you don't want to fly or go on that European trip you planned..take a road trip here at home..appreciate this beautiful country. We need to keep our economy going.

I guess I'm one of those taking a silly trip. My wife is scared and I'm nervous too but actually the security is better than ever. We postponed once from Sept. 16,and probably should have Vegas to ourselves. I think its better than burying our heads in the sand and distressing the economy even more.

Quick, What's the count ... is it a go or no go? Is my trip on or off? The cat sitter needs to know. That good looking redhead says she needs to know. Hell, even the cats demand a decision (you know how cats are ... edgy and grumpy). They're all looking at me ... and I'm looking at you. Look, I think I'd better go. I need a break ... and rested, I'll be able to see all this more clearly. So, don't tell me the outcome of this debate. Ciao
