I need to nix one stop on trip: Sedona, Bryce or Zion. Which One??
 

On our 9 night trip of the southwest, we are flying into LV then to Hoover Dam, Sedona, South Rim, Page, Bryce, Zion then back to LV. I need to cut out one stop due to time. Which one?

Sedona has it's own beauty and some think Bryce and Zion are somewhat similiar. Tough call. I would also think about cutting out Page.

Sedona, but if you are spending more than one night in LV, skip that night.

Bryce Canyon and Zion are definitely not even remotely similar to each other.

I would try to shorten the stay in Las Vegas. Also, Hoover dam could be dropped. Just my opinion.

I don't remember what your plan is for Page but since you're going right thru it I would plan for mid-day and go to Antelope Canyon and if you have time Horseshoe Bend.

I stopped in Page for those two sights on my way from Zion to the Grand Canyon. I was in GC in time to checkin and go to see the sun set.

The next morning you could hike down into GC for a couple of hours, stop at a few of the viewpoints and continue on to Sedona.

You have to try and decide what your chances are of returning to this part of the country in the not to distant future.

With careful planning you can go to Zion, Bryce, Page, GC and Sedona before returning to LV.

I'm not a big fan of GC so I know what I'd do as all of the other sights are great.

My first trip to the area was 7 days.
I spent 2 days in the Bryce area (I also went to Grosvenor Arch but didn't know about Willis Creek that's much better). Since it was Bryce that caused me to plan the trip I duplicated (well, almost) some hikes.

I spent part of 2 days in Zion and drove to Page (Antelope Canyon & Horseshoe Bend) before arriving in GC and seeing the sun set. The next morning I walked the Rim watching the sun rise, did a bit of hiking and drove to Sedona making several stops along the way.

I spend 3 days in Sedona. I did a lot of hikes.

I only spent 1 night in Zion and GC.

Having done all this I could now plan a trip for much less time.

You said Sedona, Bryce or Zion.

I would choose Sedona, no question.

I've never heard anyone say Bryce and Zion are similar. They are so very different.

Wow, I live in Sedona and I'm amazed so many of these posts suggested leaving it out of your itinerary, as it is one of the most beautiful places on Earth, with awesome hikes. In fact, so many people that come here just passing through, plan an entire week here for their next vacation.

My suggestion would be to leave Page out of the mix for this trip. The surrounding areas are great, but that is a trip all by itself as well.

I would leave out Sedona cause it is rather out of the way going that south and then back track thru the same area to get back up to Vegas .. have fun and take care

Thank you all for the suggestions. I'm leaning toward leaving out Sedona. I don't want to nix Page because we really want to do the smooth water trip plus see Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend. I'm thinking Sedona only because it is out of the basic loop of everything else (as 2dogs mentioned).

I agree Sedona is beautiful, gorgeous even, but the choices were Zion, Bryce, or Sedona in the titile. If indeed Page is an option, then absolutely, that is what I would drop. Bryce and Zion are night and day from each other, other than the fact that they are both canyons. Wow! They don't resemble each other in the least little bit!

Sedona is so beautiful! I would never drop a trip to Sedona, although the other places a great too. Sedona is much more than New Age,...it's hiking, adventure tours, tasty cuisine, amazing Red Rock formation and a gorgeous canyon that is fun for all ages and activity levels. It seems like you are more interested in scenic beauty rather than experiencing the city life. Maybe a day less in Vegas would allow you to see all the places you want.

I'd drop a day in Vegas, but I don't like Vegas at all.

If you leave out Sedona, you'd kick yourself later (after you eventually see it!) It would have become a National Park itself, but the Homestead Act prevented it, because people were living and ranching here. No one who has ever seen Sedona is sorry they did. They might not have liked the hotel they chose or the stuff they bought, but no one ever wishes they didn't see it!

Bucket, these are the right reasons to keep Page and the right reason to skip Sedona, which is certainly beautiful and nice but out of the way and surely not as scenic as Bryce or Zion.

How is it that 3 brand new members made their very first post on the same thread, all saying essentially the same thing (don't skip Sedona)?

I'll expand on my reply. There are reasons why the Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce and Glen Canyon have been set aside as National Parks or National Recreational areas! Sedona is scenic but it's also much more civilized and populated.
