I NEED HELP
 

Three ladies (myself included) are heading to New York City in May for four fun filled days. My travel agent has given me price quotes for three hotels to start my research. We are looking for a good location, friendly\helpful staff, better than average, and a clean spacious room as we will be all staying together in one. The ones quoted were "The Drake" (Swissotel) in Midtown, Courtyard Midtown, and The Best Western Ambassador in Time Square. Any advice or information regarding these hotels or other suggestions would be appreciated.

Deb: The Drake Swisshotel is head and shoulders above the other two you mentioned. It borders on being a luxury hotel and will offer the kind of service you are looking for and, most likely, a larger room. It's well located in midtown on Park Ave -- close to many attractions, but quieter location than Times Square.<BR><BR>The Courtyard Midtown is nothing special -- it's your average, mid-level hotel.<BR><BR>The Best Western Ambassador is more like a budget hotel.

Jack, I don't think that was the type of help Deb needed - give her a break! I agree with all that has been said - the Drake is much nicer that your other two choices. I plugged in some may dates on Quickbook.com and it looked like the price range for the Drake was $200 - $250/night. Have a wonderful time!

Jack actually had the right idea--think of how many more potentially useful responses you'd get, Deb, if your message's subject was "NYC hotels" or "Drake Swissotel, Courtyard Midtown or Best Western Ambassador in NYC?"

I stayed at the Drake last April for 5 nights....$179 Fri-Sun and $199 Mon-Tues. I know that a few weeks ago for the Red-White-Blue NYC promotion, rooms were $159. On the corner of 56th Street and Park Ave, you have an excellent, quiet location that is just 2 blocks from 5th Ave. BOOK IT!
