I loved Kiawah Island!

For those heading out to Charleston, if you want to go to a beautiful beach go to Kiawah Island. It's about 45 minutes away and is beautiful and quiet. There is a fee of $5 a car but it's definitely worth it.

How are the restaurants at Kiawah? Can you go canoeing there? Do you think 2 nts. is enough? Did you stay in villa or hotel?

Sorry can't help you there...we just spent an evening at the island. It didn't seem to have restaurants close by, but maybe we missed it.

Thanks for the update. We are going to Kiawah the end of August. We rented a condo for 6 people on the ocean with view. Looking forward to it.

tinatoadster, There are severral restaurants on Kiawah as well as nearby on Seabrook. There's a casual one in the shops area near the hotel, The Atlantic Room and a couple of others. We reall like Roasebank Farms Cafe at Bohicket Marina. They have good specials at lunch. At West Beach Village there is a market with takeout stuff including pizza. I've heard good things about The Mustard See on johns Island but haven't been myself. Check out other postings for Charleston restaurants. As for canoeing/kayaking, there is a great program with guided trips. I've done both kayak and canoe trips there and prefer the kayaks. The sunrise one was great, but bring sunglasses! Justin (the head of the boating stuff) is a terrific guide/teacher.
