I lost isabel's pictures thread
 

Dear isabel,
I was admiring your work with my whole family and then I went on web looking for the cameras you mentioned in your post.
This is not as easy as it seems, right ?
There are so many features I do not know how to go with or without.
Would you, please, answer and help me on picking the right one ?

None of camera's that isabel uses are available. Bummer !

I have a feeling that Isabel could take great photos with a disposable camera.

I do have a question anyway about how to pick photo paper.
I have a good camera, but all of my pictures when printed out - looks like crap. It looks great on computer, though... Any ideas ?

Increasing the resolution would probably help.

Your computer can make even low resolution photos look good.

You meant to buy better paper or ??? I am in total "Pharmacy Photo Development" group. Just coming out to digitals...

The quality of your printed photos is more influenced by the resolution of the pictures than by the paper.

The resolution of the photos is how many pixels (or little dots) each picture is made up of. Some articles which will help you understand much better than I can explain can be found here: http://www.acdsystems.com/English/Co...alCamera/index . I recommend you read the articles on "Getting the right Digital Camera" and "Camera Resolution and Print Size"

There is also an article here on photo paper (click on tech tips on the left side menu, then select "Photo Printing Paper"). However, your printer will be more of a limiting factor than your paper. You must also have a photo quality printer for best printed results.

For the record, it's the photographer more than the camera that is responsible for great photos! Oh, the camera certainly helps, but a good eye is more important!

Howard, you may be correct but everyone has to start somewhere. Her photos and mine may never be quite as good as Isabels (or at least not this year) but she is trying to learn and improve.

Tat did say the photos looked great on the computer but not so great when printed so that would seem to point to printing issues (printer or paper). so maybe the photographer is not doing too badly.

carrolldf, my point was in reference to previous comments about Isabel's camera. I repeat my statement that a good eye is more important. Obviously, because two people use the same camera doesn't mean that each will get the same results!

Agree completely Howard. I have some of the "exact, same pictures" that Isabel has -- but they don't look exactly the same. :)

HowardR just wants to push his point of view no matter how far from subject it is. I found very difficult to argue with such opponents, so I just ignore those comments.

As you have noticed, carrolldf, I am not trying to be as good as isabel just because I am not gonna be able to, but all of us are taking pictures.
I see that quality of the camera is important as quality of the printer and paper.
If isabel printed her pictures on my printer it would lost it's sharpness and color, so I know that now it is time for Howard to jump in and say "and whatever you do you have no such an eye as isabel" :)

So, I appreciate very much advice about printer's responsibility ... never thought of it.
