I have one rainy afternoon in Boston...

Hi all-
I've never been to Boston and I have five hours between arrival and a business dinner- and I'm a history buff. I'm also somewhat of a wimp and don't want to spend five hours walking around in the rain. It's going to be 55 degrees and raining tomorrow- what do you suggest I do with my time? Thanks in advance for your help!

First of all, have a "Plan B" ready in case of nice weather, since weather forecasts are so often completely wrong.

I would head to the Musuem of Fine Arts. There is plenty to see there for a history buff - Egyptian artifacts, portraits of our founding fathers, silver pieces made by Paul Revere (which fascinates me for some reason), lots of other stuff too. Art and history go hand in hand to me - art is a reflection of what was going on at the time it was created.

Another suggested would be to head to the JFK Library.

Boston's North End is filled with history and Italian food.
Go to Paul Revere's House and Old North Church and combine it with enjoying some of the Cafe life on Hanover Street and Salem Street. If you don't know the city, it is a good way to enjoy a lot in a small area.
You will also be a 5 minute walk from the Aquarium and Quincy Market.

Great suggestions! My Plan B was to walk the Freedom Trail, but it seemed a like it might be too damp for tomorrow. The MFA sounds like a great idea, and I will head to the Old North Church. Thanks-
L.

If you are a buff of 20th century history, I also recommend JFK museum. I just visited and the T/shuttle ride were very easy. I loved meandering through at my own pace and especially enjoyed the Jackie handwritten notes and other private momentos. Good luck.
