I can't help it, so excited about NYC!

Girls gone wild part deux. College roomates from long ago. From Texas, Ohio and Florida, meeting in NYC late March.

Staying at Hilton Garden Inn Times Square. Guaranteed 2 queens, high floor, reasonable price.

Arriving Thursday, check in, see The Audience with Helen Mirren.

Friday: take it easy in the morning, noontime Food Tour in Greenwich Village. Evening is The King and I at Lincoln Center, likely PJ Clarke for dinner.

Saturday is a full day. Early AM World Trade Center museum tour. Next to Tenement Museum, hope to fit in 2 different options.

Evening is New York Spring Spectacular at Radio City. One of us is a Derek Hough groupie!

Not sure about dinner Saturday or Thursday. Recommendations? Looking at Chez Josephine.

Sunday AM, sleep in a bit, brunch at Brassierie 8 1/2. Sadly, home now. How I love NYC!!!!

Most of all, catch up with my girlfriends of 40 years.

Suggestions?

Sounds like a terrific itinerary. I'd be excited, too!

Sounds like a great trip!

"Next to Tenement Museum, hope to fit in 2 different options."
If that's something you really want to do, it might be good to buy tickets ahead of time. They do sell out. Very limited space.

Waiting for 60 days out to buy tix for 9/11 museum and tenement.

Dinner recommendations midtown?

My favorite is the West Bank Café, especially before Broadway shows in the area. But I like it anytime. Near the theaters, but not in the crazy crowd area. Large local clientele

I would not plan on Chez Josephine so far in advance. Sadly, Jean-Claude Baker passed away recently.

For a group and a lively atmosphere, I'd recommend Tao on 58th between Park and Madison. Ask for a table upstairs overlooking the downstairs dining room.

I don't recommend Tao unless you are 22 years old and plan to drink more than you eat.

Sounds like a great weekend! But not much time for the girls to go wild -:) I'm curious why you picked PJ Clarke's for Lincoln Center dinner…. of all the places around there that's the last I'd choose. Tho maybe they've upped their game in the last few years. Will look forward to your trip report!

Doug, be fair. Tao was a favorite of the Sex in the City girls.

rncheryl Jan 22nd, 2015 03:02 PM

Grandma, open to other suggestions about restaurants in Lincoln Center.

And Neo, we are SO FAR from SITC girls, more like we remember when we had sex in the city....

But the memories are GREAT!

NeoPatrick Jan 22nd, 2015 03:24 PM

Hey, mcheryl, if you can still remember, isn't that all that counts?

zorrosf Jan 22nd, 2015 04:27 PM

Before or after Tenement Museum: Katz's Deli and/or Russ & Daughters.

Gosh… lots of rests. near LC… and everybody has an opinion -:) Friends and I tend to go to Cafe Fiorello right across the street. Can be priceyish and I'd get an early reservation for such a large group. Ed'sChowderhouse even closer to LC… lots of fish prices same as Fiorello. The Smith next to Fiorello… but it's kind of loud.. tho a large group could probably surmount that. There's also Rosa Mexicano, Sapphire (Indian), Shun Lee West (exp. Chinese), Atlantic Grill
and more expensive options. Anyhow… no matter where you end up I'm sure your group will have a good time.
(You can check everyone out on opentable.com or menupages.com (table is better.)

Yes - but that was OLD news even then.

Restaurants - except for a limited number of traditional favorites - tend to cycle in and out in about 18 months. Tao was a favorite of my DDs some years ago.

Not terrible - but not a favorite of mine.

Patrick, you are so on track!!!

An excellent restaurant located near Lincoln Center is Daniel Boulud's fine Boulud Sud. We dined there in December and were blown away by the quality of the food, the service, and the ambience. Also the cost: $60 for a 3-course prix fixe of amazing food.
