I ask again......
Can anyone give me feedback on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina, any returning visitors? I am reserved at the Marriott Barony Beach Club, anyone stay there?

dwoods, most people skip over the posts with uninformative titles. You might have better luck with a header that mentions Hilton Head.

Dwoods,

I have been to Hilton Head several times since 1997. We stay at the Marriott Grand Ocean Resort.

The Barony Beach Club is a new resort (time-share property) developed by Marriott. Marriott has several resort properties on Hilton Head. The units are usually two bedroom, two bath with full kitchen and laundry facilities. Nice for a family.

Husband and I go just about every year in the spring. Last year, we were there Easter Week, and it was crowded. We have stayed as late as mid April. The weather is always warm and sunny, in the 80s. We golf, rent bikes, eat out a lot for dinner. Lots of great restaurants.

I like the beach, as the sand "packs down" and you can ride your bike on the beach.

There are several outlet malls near Hilton Head, in addition to a few other malls. We visited Savannah and Charleston on different trips while staying at Hilton Head.

Since the Barony Beach property is relatively new, I don't think you should have many problems. If you stay there, the activities office can provide all types of excursions or schedule you at a golf course at pretty decent rates.

Hope this answers your questions.

Also, when this web site is fixed, you can do a search for Hilton Head, and you will see past information about it.

Maureen
I've been twice and stayed at the Hilton Head Beach and Tennis Resort, a timeshare, on the beach (seemed to be economy at the time, but clean and only a few steps to the beach). It's a beautiful place and I'd go every year if I could afford it! I don't think you could find a hotel there that's not a nice place. Everything is situated on a "plantation". Many are timeshares, hotels, with golf courses and some have there own shopping centers. You can rent bicycles at most and bike the beach. Don't forget to go to Harbourtown (if you watch golf at all, I'm sure you've seen it's lighthouse on TV), the boats are unbelievable!
If you can have the time to drive to Charleston or Savannah, it's really worth it, they're both really unique and gorgeous places with the real flavor of the old south.

My parents own two weeks at the Barony Beach. They love it. They've been vacationing for a week every June for the past five years. The resort is right on the ocean. For a really nice relaxing formal dinner try Old Fort Pub. You can get directions from the hotel staff. Have a great time.
