I am planning a trip looking for must see tips

I am planning a trip with my brother. I will head to Sioux Falls SD from St. Louis plan on stopping by Freedom Rock in Iowa on the way. Once we meet in Sioux Falls we plan on heading through the black Hill and going to Mount Rushmore. Then head for Red Lodge Montana and ride the Bear toot Pass going down through Yellowstone then on to Jackson hole and back to Sioux falls.

We are planning this trip for June of 2015.
How much time would you suggest we take?
What Must see rides should we take along the way?

Looking for any tips you can give us.

There's a lot more to the Black Hills than just Mount Rushmore. I would allow at least 5 - 7 days for this portion of your trip and I would include at least 1 day at the Badlands NP. Two good resources for planning a trip in the Black Hills are: 1) Moon Guide to Mt. Rushmore and the Black Hills (which was EXCELLENT) which you can find at your local library or bookstore and the free South Dakota travel guide which you can order from the South Dakota Tourism website: www.travelsd.com

I'm not sure I agree that the BH are worth SEVEN days but on the way west you might try to swing by Devils Tower.

I would make a point of driving along the Missouri RIver from Hannibal to St. Louis.

I think Keith means the Mississippi River.

Badlands deserves an overnight stay for sure. You could also head north from Rapid City and visit Theodore Roosevelt NP in North Dakota, then take I-94 west to Glacier.

Possibly on the way home drive through the Nebraska Sandhills region instead of going through South Dakota again?

You need to check road conditions, I'm not sure all the roads in Glacier will be fully open by then. Same with Bear Tooth, I think some roads don't open til early July.

How much time do you have? 3 weeks would be good, a week for Yellowstone/Grand Tetons, 3-5 days for Glacier, 4-5 days for the Black Hills.
