HYC lodging

Hubby and I are going to NYC in late November for 2 days. Please advise a nice hotel, not too costly, in area off Times Square. Thanks

Title should have read NYC, of course.

You have picked the busiest and most expensive time of year. A nice hotel near Times Square would be a minimum of $400 per night - if they have room available.

Don;t know what you mean by not too costly.

Suggest you search the various discounters (try travel zoo and kayak.com) but be sure to check tripadvisor.com to see reviews (some of those listed are an hour or more from the city - and some are used by the city to house welfare recipients).

You could also try bidding on Priceline - but I doubt they will have much inventory - since at that time of year NYC usually runs about 99% full. (Check betterbidding.com for how to bid.)

We are going to be in NY for 5 nights over Thanksgiving, and the prices are indeed about $400 for a room in a "medium-priced" hotel. I have checked Hotwire from time to time (we already have a reservation at the Residence Inn) and there is absolutely no inventory. I would imagine Priceline is the same.
